Shatil Stories

Shatil touches the lives of Israelis from multiple communities and backgrounds, many of whom continue to play leading roles within Israeli Civil Society, working to create a just, democratic, and shared society.

.

Following are Shatil stories from the current and previous years which highlight the achievements of those creating a deep and meaningful impact within Israeli society.

.

2016Shatil Stories traditionally profiles civil society activists whom Shatil has empowered. They are only part of the story; social change cuts across sectors and disciplines. In the 2016 edition of Shatil Stories, we present six of the many public sector decision-makers with whom we cooperate as they lead change from their seats in municipalities, local councils, the Knesset and other institutions. Through their stories, a picture emerges of a diverse Israeli society committed to social justice and mutual respect.

As Shatil marked 30 years of leading social change, the 2013 edition of Shatil Stories was dedicated to Israel’s civil society, which has grown in numbers, influence, and impact over the past three decades.  May the next 30 years bring even more citizens to participate actively in shaping a more just, democratic, and shared society.

2012 Shatil Stories was 2012dedicated to women leading change. The New Israel Fund campaign, Women Should Be Seen & Heard, together with strategies, such as the Shatil-led coalition working for the equal representation of women in the public sphere, countered the worrisome trends to segregate and silence women. The women presented within highlight the power and hope embedded in social activism.   .
